HAPPY NEW YEAR
"This added part is an update (Sunday, 6th Jan.): as you will see from my comments beneath, I had trouble posting my photos. Imagine my horror when I found out that after all that hard work uploading them to Picasa they didn't even show up in my blog. I have been spending the last two or more hours trying to figure out how to get them back on and thanks to a lovely lady named Rae Ann, I tried it her way, using HTML and it seems to have worked. I hope that I don't have to do this every time I blog because it sure is a work out. Sorry for any of the photos I couldn't retrieve - I don't save every photo I take. Hugs, Chris"
For the first time, I have been having trouble in uploading photos from my computer onto my blog. I have always been able to do it so easily but now I find that I have to go through a Google based programme called Picasa. Is everyone else who uses Blogger in the same boat? I'm sure that once I get used to it, it will be as easy as pie but to get started it means that I have to transfer all my photos into individual albums from which to draw the photos which I wish to use in my current blog. Phew, I am so tired of doing this procedure this evening that I just might take a break and go and do something else until I get my breath back, LOL
I hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas and are now looking forward to a peaceful and healthy New Year. I know I am. I had a very quiet Christmas, spent with my eldest son and we enjoyed a very nice repast, made by moi, took all day to cook and was polished off in about 30 minutes - doesn't that happen to everyone? My three sons and family joined together and bought me a fabulous new TV. I had been resisting getting a new one because the old one worked just like it did the day it was purchased, but with technology constantly changing, I couldn't have my DVD player and the Digital Box connected at the same time and plugging in and unplugging became a bit of a nuisance. That gave the sons, DIL and grandchildren something really special to be able to get for me and I truly appreciate it. Why I resisted for so long I just don't know. Here's a picture of it - aren't I spoilt?
As usual, I have been busy creating and refinishing items for my Boutique. It's not like I need to do this to fill empty spaces, no, on the contrary, I barely have room to move in there. I guess you could say that I am addicted to being crafty. These are a few things that I have been working on over the holidays......
I made some animal magnets. I had leftover animals from a previous craft, bookends which you will see in my previous post, and decided to put them to good use. I just hope that someone will take pity on me and buy a few.
A couple of crow pictures which I found on the net and painted
on canvas, giving them my own individual look.
I'm sure this little group reminds you of a famous singing group. I made silhouette images and mod podged them onto a painted canvas and then framed them. I was quite a fan of these young men in my heyday, and even received a beautiful smile from one of them when I saw them live. I'm not kidding!!
I spent quite a bit of time painting and shabbying these beauties - if I didn't already have a nice set of glass end tables I would consider keeping them for myself and they certainly would go with my decor - they have a mirror insert......
I also did this small table and shabby-chiced it too.....
I painted a few chalkboards for the kiddies as well...........
Kellee and Kathy, two delightful ladies with whom I worked at the Library did this unusual Christmas tree for the Main Library just in front of the Circulation Desk for all to admire - what a neat idea...
My dear friend Laurie from http://iloveacloudyday.blogspot.ca/
came around with a large slice of brownies which she had just made, in fact they were still warm. They were peanut butter and chocolate chip, something I had never tasted before in a brownie, and they were delicious. I would have posted a photo of them but they disappeared so fast - my son thought they were great, as did I.
Well, that's it for this post. I am ending it with some photos of my most favourite people and then I'm going to give myself a headache and work on uploading more photos to Picasa. Let me know what you think of this programme and if you find it easy to use.

Have a fabulous weekend. I'm working at my Boutique in the morning so I had better get cracking and figure out this Picasa thing and get to bed. 'Til next time. Hugs,

Blogspot photos have always gone through Picasa, you probably just weren't aware of it. I still take mine straight from my computer, if that makes any sense? I don't load them to Picasa first.
ReplyDeleteI reported this problem, this is the responce I recieved:
ReplyDeleteThe uploader is currently not working correctly in Internet Explorer in the Compose mode. You cn upload from the html mode, then switch to Compose to complete your post. Firefox or Chrome are also options as they are not affected.
This has been reported to Blogger engineeers.

Chris I transfer photo's from my camera straight to Picassa and then press export which transfers them straight to pictures. Then I can upload them to my blog. Hope this is helpful. Glad you enjoyed your Christmas. Happy New Year and good luck with your Boutique. xx
ReplyDeleteThank you for stopping by my blog!
ReplyDeleteI just started follow you♫
What a lovely blog ♡
Hi Chris. First I want to greet you happy new year and congratulation with your new tv. Then , i must say your works are admirable. Thumbs up for you.
ReplyDeleteAnd by the way, I have been using picasa for a while and it is perfect in editing pictures, but took time to learn :)
Anyway, lovely pictures of your grandchildren:) have a nice day:)
Hi Chris. I have had a couple of problems this year. Firstly google said I had used up my free space on Picasa so now have to pay a small monthly sum which I am doing currently but will eventually sort myself out and put my photos through a site like 'photobucket' so I won't have to pay. Then a couple of days ago I couldn't download any photos as there is some problem over at google but by changing to Google Chrome (took less than 2 mins) all is well again. Happy New Year!
ReplyDeleteHi Chris- Happy New Year. Yes I have occasional problems with Google but it usually settles down and goes away! Hope you can sort it. x Jo
ReplyDeletewow have you been busy!!! The grand kids are getting so big, they are so beautiful.I love the tree at the library, I saw one just like that on pinterest! (sp)???? Glad you like the brownies,
ReplyDeleteI never had a problem with uploading, except for a few bumps, which lasted a few hours. But what is really irritating me is that for months nowI can't manage the blogs I follow. Have told Blogger about this, nothing ever changes. Is anybody else having problems with that?
ReplyDeleteI load my photos to Picasa and I love it. Never had any problems and I love being able to easily edit my photos there. Once I'm happy with a photo I save it to my Documents then upload to my blog from there. Hope that helps.
ReplyDeleteHappy New Year, Chris! I know a few people for whom those "horse's ass" magnets would be perfect stocking stuffers, LOL! Enjoy your new TV!
ReplyDeleteI have heard of other bloggers having issues with photos lately too.Not sure why though.
ReplyDeleteWhat a wonderful present! And those magnets are so cute too!
Oh yes the Beatles I have always been a fan.But have only been to a Paul McCartney concerts.I would LOVE to bring my daughter to see him before he stops performing whenever that is LOL.He is amazing!Great silhouette!

happy New Year! love all of your happenings! the book tree is so cool! OH and your animal magnets....love those! have to try that! sounds like a nice Christmas and New Years up there!
ReplyDeleteI had a lot of trouble uploading photos today. After floundering around for a long time I discovered -- If you change to HTML (next to Compose above where you type in your blog) and then pick the insert image icon, it will let you browse as always and then you switch back to Compose and the picture is there. I hope this works for you, too. I was trying the picasa thing and getting all mixed up, like you.
ReplyDeleteHave a great day
Rae Ann O.
Hi Chris, Wishing you a Happy 2013!

Warm Regards,

Happy New Year, Chris!! May it be a blessed and healthy one for you as well :)
ReplyDeleteI am finally here to visit you. Noticed you took your name off the friend's list at my blog. Your photos are not showing up. I had this problem recently. Did you recently update your browser, in plug ins might be in the pop up window, the images to be blocked, that's what happened to me. Hope it can be fixed soon. I will be adding yours and other blogs to my list of blogs I follow. Happy NewYear!
ReplyDeleteYour problem appears to be an odd one as I upload direct from computer to my blog without any problems. I do use Chrome though, so maybe the issue is your browser. I did have a fleeting affair with Picasa and liked what it could do but I didn't like the fact it took over my photos - I like to be one in charge of what I do with them!! LOL
ReplyDeleteTry using mozilla sweetie. Happy New Year wishes and thank you for sharing at the hop. I hope you will stop by again soon. I posted the new giveaway! xo
ReplyDeleteI hope your new year is the best one yet.
ReplyDeleteHi Chris. I am having issues also. Read about it here on my blog: http://lavendulaloveliness.blogspot.ca/2013/01/something-has-changed-when-uploading.html
ReplyDeleteI assume it is Blogger since I have tried 3 different browsers. Let me know if you find a resolve. Sandra from Canada.
Thanks for visiting my blog back in December. I love the animal magnets. They are so cute!
ReplyDeleteI LOVE the pictures at the end!! I've always used the uploader myself, but I also use Chrome... I've been using picasa on my computer for a month or so, and recently found that it's part of google (go figure) I also found it's REALLY easy and quick to upload to picasa, and then put them in a post... I'd suggest switching browsers if you can!
ReplyDeleteTake a peek at my blog when you have a moment!
Thanks!

Hi Chris,
ReplyDeleteThank you for following my blog. I'm now following yours as well. Great job on the shabby chic painting. I did try a dresser, but it came out more cottage style as I call it. It's a learning process for sure. I'm also following you now on Pinterest. Kathy (ScrapNDaze)
Thank you, Chris, and the fine folks here who commented with solutions to the photo posting problem. I was having the same problem and did a search to find a solution (BTW, it was a Bing search, not a Google search!) and that's how I ended up here. Coincidentally, I had also recently been informed by Google that I had used all the space on my blog and would need to pay a monthly fee for more photo storage. Then could not post photos at all. Hmm... exactly the same as someone else here said. I will definitely try the solutions suggested here. Thanks everyone!
ReplyDeleteThanks for the follow. I am followering you back. your blog is really neat
ReplyDeleteI love your blog, great ideas. I am more in fashion and accessories, but still I got a lot of insparation from you
